Job Description
The Data Scientist will lead the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to business problems at UAP Old Mutual Uganda. You will utilize advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms to extract insights from complex data sets while mentoring junior team members.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of statistical and machine learning models for predictive analysis and data visualization
- Develop and implement algorithms for advanced analytics, such as natural language processing, computer vision, and deep learning
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and translate them into data-driven solutions
- Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and validate findings
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists in the team
- Stay up to date with the latest tools, techniques, and technologies in the field of data science
- Communicate insights and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, dashboards, and presentations
- Work with the engineering team to deploy models in production environments
- ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION
- The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
