About the Organisation

The organisation is developing a recruitment database for community workers of candidates across the country for an International NGO for child development in their operational regions which are; Central, Northern, Western, Eastern Uganda, as well as the Karamoja sub-region.

Job Description
The Data Enumerator will carry out household and community-level data collection using mobile-based or paper tools. The role involves direct interaction with affected individuals, ensuring ethical data collection practices and confidentiality. Enumerators must work collaboratively with supervisors and fellow team members to meet deadlines, follow sampling protocols, and maintain high data quality. The role includes daily reporting, troubleshooting field challenges, and adhering to protection and safety standards.
Enumerators must ensure respondents are fully informed, provide consent, and understand the purpose of the data collection exercise. The information gathered will support needs assessments, program planning, and performance tracking in humanitarian settings.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Conduct structured interviews, surveys, and group discussions using digital or paper-based tools
Clearly explain the purpose of the survey and obtain informed consent
Ensure confidentiality and respectful engagement with all respondents, especially vulnerable groups
Submit data timely and accurately as per protocol
Verify completeness and correctness of forms or device entries before submission
Attend daily team briefings, trainings, and field coordination meetings
Identify and report data inconsistencies, technical issues, or community feedback
Observe ethical standards and safety protocols at all times
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education; post-secondary training in social sciences, statistics, public health, or related field is an added advantage
Experience:
At least 1 year of data collection experience (preferred in humanitarian/emergency context)
Familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO)
Previous experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset
Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in data recording
Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision
Ethical and respectful behavior in the field
Good teamwork and adaptability in changing field environments
