Job Description
Job Title: Cybersecurity Engineer – Electrical
Project: East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)
Location: Uganda (Site-Based)
Contract Duration: 18 Months
Start Date: October 2025 or aligned with site work schedule
Project Overview
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a major infrastructure project that will transport crude oil from Uganda’s oil fields to the Tanzanian coast. A critical component of the project’s success is the safe and efficient operation of its electrical systems, which require strong cybersecurity controls.
Schneider Electric’s Role
As the Electrical, Instrumentation, and Telecommunications Systems (EITS) integrator, Schneider Electric is responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of all electrical infrastructure. This includes integration across complex technical domains and ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and fully operational at project handover.
Position Summary
The Cybersecurity Engineer – Electrical will be responsible for implementing, managing, and improving Schneider Electric’s Field Services Cybersecurity Framework at the EACOP project site in Uganda. The role ensures cybersecurity protocols are applied across all field service operations, involving Schneider personnel, subcontractors, and partners. This position is key to maintaining a secure operational environment in line with Schneider Electric and oil & gas industry cybersecurity standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Implement and monitor cybersecurity practices across the project site in accordance with Schneider Electric’s global standards.
Communicate cybersecurity guidelines and promote best practices to Field Service Representatives (FSRs) and subcontractors.
Lead deployment of cybersecurity awareness training, certification paths, and change management initiatives.
Enforce cybersecurity compliance through the deployment of secure endpoint solutions and framework adherence.
Manage local cybersecurity incident procedures, including identification, registration, escalation, and resolution.
Track and report key cybersecurity performance indicators (e.g., FSR certification rates, incident metrics, subcontractor coverage).
Assist in implementing cybersecurity clauses in service agreements and subcontractor contracts.
Act as a site liaison with Schneider Electric’s central cybersecurity team for issue escalation and strategic alignment.
Support delivery of cybersecurity onboarding and training for partners and subcontractors.
Ensure ongoing compliance with international cybersecurity standards and continuous improvement in local cyber posture.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, field services, or service operations, preferably in the energy, utilities, or industrial sectors.
Prior experience managing cybersecurity responsibilities in complex field environments, ideally within oil & gas or infrastructure projects.
Technical Skills & Tools
Proficiency with cybersecurity training platforms, endpoint protection tools, and incident management systems.
Familiarity with Schneider Electric’s cybersecurity certification frameworks and training programs.
Experience with deploying and monitoring endpoint security solutions in field environments.
Understanding of industrial cybersecurity standards, field service risk mitigation, and KPI tracking.
Knowledge of control system cybersecurity protocols and operational security best practices.

Multilingual capabilities: fluency in English is required; French and/or Swahili is an asset.
Work Conditions
Full-time, site-based role in Uganda under EACOP project scope.
Requires use of PPE and strict adherence to site HSE and cybersecurity protocols.
Field conditions may include high temperatures, remote locations, and challenging terrain.
Flexibility for extended hours, shift work, or availability during cybersecurity training and incident response periods.
