Job Description
The Credit Specialist will play a central role in BRD’s e-mobility initiative, supporting the E-Moto Credit Enhancement Facility (E-CEF). Responsibilities include designing structured and blended finance approaches tailored to the e-moto sector, conducting credit due diligence on proposed financing transactions, developing risk frameworks, and designing credit products. The role involves engaging stakeholders, monitoring credit portfolios, managing credit risks, and building capacity across BRD and partner institutions. The specialist will also contribute to policy dialogue with government bodies and ensure compliance with all reporting and risk management standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Design structured and blended finance mechanisms based on global best practices
Conduct credit assessments of proposed transactions, analyzing financial statements and projections
Develop sector-specific risk assessment models and frameworks for the e-moto sector
Create innovative credit products for the e-mobility market
Integrate credit enhancements into financing structures in collaboration with the Transaction Specialist
Identify and mitigate lending risks in compliance with BRD policies
Monitor credit portfolio performance and advise on risk strategies
Coordinate with financial institutions and stakeholders to expand credit access
Advocate for favorable credit conditions with regulatory authorities
Produce regular credit performance reports and improvement recommendations
Ensure complete documentation of credit transactions per BRD and funder standards
Train BRD staff and partners on credit risk and structured finance practices
Foster knowledge-sharing and continuous improvement in credit solutions
Execute additional tasks as assigned by the line manager or BRD Management
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
At least 5 years’ progressive experience in credit analysis, lending, or risk management in the financial services sector
Familiarity with Rwandan banking and MSME finance sector and regulations
Proven experience in credit assessment, portfolio monitoring, and recovery
Knowledge of structured finance, blended finance, and credit enhancement techniques (desirable)
Experience developing credit manuals and conducting training (an advantage)
Skills:
Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to produce accurate, in-depth credit assessments
Problem-solving skills in credit-related issues
Capacity to communicate complex financial information clearly
