Position Title: Collections Officer

Role Summary
The Collections Officer will be responsible for recovering overdue loan repayments, negotiating repayment plans, and repossessing company assets in accordance with legal and organizational guidelines. This role requires strong field presence, professionalism, and excellent communication skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Review overdue accounts and prepare recovery schedules in line with company policies.
Contact borrowers through phone calls, field visits, and written communication to demand and collect outstanding loan repayments.
Negotiate repayment arrangements and educate clients on available payment options.
Follow proper legal and procedural steps when repossessing motorcycles from defaulting clients, ensuring full compliance with Ugandan laws and company standards.
Transport repossessed motorcycles to the designated company yard.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of collections, repossessions, and client interactions for reporting and audit purposes.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on collection activities and repossessions.
Demonstrate professionalism and adherence to ethical conduct during all field operations.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
3–4 years of experience in loan collection, debt recovery, or related field operations.
Valid motorcycle riding permit (Class A) for field movement.
Strong knowledge of Uganda’s debt recovery laws and legal repossession procedures.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and customer service skills.
Computer literacy, including proficiency in record keeping and reporting (Excel, email, etc.).
Working Conditions
Field-based position requiring frequent travel within Bukoto and to various client locations.
May require working beyond regular office hours to meet recovery targets and facilitate repossessions.
Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and demanding environments is essential.
