Job Description
The Collection Clerk/Assistant will play a key role in facilitating the efficient movement of goods within the warehouse. Responsibilities include collecting and verifying items for dispatch, assisting drivers with loading, ensuring documentation is accurate, and maintaining housekeeping and safety standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Customer Service Clerk to manage collections, support administrative tasks, and uphold service excellence.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist the Customer Service Clerk with customer communications (phone, electronic, and in-person)
Collect goods from correct staging areas for dispatch
Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to move or stack goods safely (if licensed)
Verify outgoing goods against dispatch documentation
Assist with loading and securing deliveries to prevent in-transit damage
Report missing, incorrect, or damaged items immediately
Accurately complete all required dispatch and collection documents
Prepare 3rd-party waybills as needed
Prepare shipments (wrap, label, palletize) for outbound delivery
Maintain cleanliness and safety in collection and loading areas
Provide customers with product weights and dimensions upon request
Help compile and check weekly floor reports
Manage and follow up on overdue collection reports
Organize workflow to ensure timely picking and packing of goods
Support the administration of the collections department
Adhere to all safety and procedural protocols
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
2–3 years of experience in customer service, warehousing, or administration
Knowledge of administrative processes and customer service principles
Proficiency in computer applications
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Reliable and dependable
Preferred:
Tertiary qualification in administration or logistics
Valid forklift license
Experience in a customer service department
