Job Description

Reporting to regional and cluster finance leadership, the Cluster Financial Accountant will manage end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, and treasury functions for the Nairobi cluster. Responsibilities include supervising MEC processes, managing audits, overseeing tax compliance, ensuring robust internal controls, and managing staff-related accounting such as payroll and expenses. The Accountant will ensure Blackline reconciliations are performed, mitigate risks, and safeguard the company’s balance sheet health. The role will also involve leading finance projects to improve systems and processes, supporting ESG reporting, and managing foreign exchange risks.

How to Apply

  • Lead and manage the accounting team within the cluster, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with shared service centers.

  • Ensure compliance with DHL Group’s financial, treasury, and supplier lifecycle policies.

  • Oversee cash flow and treasury processes, including procure-to-pay (PTP) functions.

  • Coordinate MEC tasks across towers and with shared service teams.

  • Manage statutory, internal, and tax audits, ensuring compliance with deadlines.

  • Oversee Blackline reconciliations and proactively address risks.

  • Ensure evidence of internal controls is maintained for ICON compliance.

  • Review VAT reconciliations and coordinate with tax teams for accurate filings.

  • Manage staff accounts, payroll-related accruals, and Concur expense systems.

  • Oversee fixed asset management and reporting.

  • Approve financial transactions per approval matrix (supplier invoices, journals, petty cash, mobile money).

  • Lead finance improvement projects, including digital process transformation.

  • Contribute to ESG reporting, foreign exchange risk management, and balance sheet stability.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

  • Professional Qualification: CPA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent.

  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership of teams.

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong knowledge of accounting (RTR), accounts payable (PTP), and treasury processes.

    • Expertise in balance sheet management, risk management, and tax compliance.

    • Proficiency in digital finance tools, ERP systems, and data analytics.

    • Strong decision-making and change management skills.

    • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.

    • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing finance teams.

    • Flexibility and resilience in adapting to changing business environments.
