Job Description
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Maternity, the Clinical Nurse will be responsible for the comprehensive care of mothers during the prepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, as well as care of newborns. The role includes conducting clinical assessments, documenting care, managing obstetric emergencies, interpreting CTG/NST results, performing minor procedures, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. The nurse will also be expected to provide education to patients and families, maintain a safe environment, and contribute to nursing audits, training, and evaluations.

How to Apply
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of obstetric mothers and newborns
Develop and implement individualized care plans for mothers and newborns
Document all care, assessments, and interactions accurately and timely
Identify at-risk mothers and take appropriate clinical actions
Conduct and interpret CTG and NST tests and act on the results
Perform and repair episiotomies and first- and second-degree tears
Respond promptly to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
Provide post-surgical care and initiate newborn immunizations
Educate patients and families as needed
Report clinical and non-clinical anomalies or incidents
Maintain infection control and patient safety practices
Participate in quality initiatives and clinical care program certifications
Facilitate safe discharge planning and follow-up scheduling
Engage in ongoing nursing education, audits, and skill checks
Registered Nurse (RN) from a recognized school of nursing or university
Valid practicing license from the Nursing Council of Kenya
Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based obstetric nursing practices
Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare setting
