Chief Registrar job at Judicial Service Commission | Apply Now

Kampala, Uganda

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Uganda, established under Article 146 of the 1995 Constitution, serves as an independent body responsible for fostering an accountable and effective judicial service through competence-based recruitment, disciplinary oversight, stakeholder engagement, and both public and judicial education. Operating under the vision of an effective, responsive, and efficient judicial service, the JSC has earned recognition for its role as a vital link between the public and the judiciary, ensuring transparency and integrity in judicial appointments and conduct.

The Commission's work culture emphasizes professionalism, accountability, and public service, offering employees opportunities to contribute to the enhancement of Uganda's justice system. It provides job opportunities across various functions, with details available on its official website. Since its inception, the JSC has evolved to include a diverse membership comprising a full-time Chairperson, a Deputy Chairperson, members representing the judiciary, the Uganda Law Society, the public, the Public Service Commission, and the Attorney General as an ex-officio member.

This structure supports its broad mandate, which includes advising the President on judicial appointments, reviewing terms and conditions of service for judicial officers, conducting educational programs, handling public complaints regarding the judiciary, and advising the government on justice administration improvements. The Commission's core values of integrity, excellence, and service guide its operations, while its commitment to corporate social responsibility is reflected in initiatives aimed at enhancing public awareness of legal rights and obligations.
