Job Description

The Chief of Party will lead the design, execution, and management of the anticipated Food for Progress project, aimed at strengthening Kenya’s agricultural sector through modernization and capacity building. The COP will oversee a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that project goals are met in compliance with USDA and Save the Children policies. The role involves close coordination with government agencies, external partners, and the USDA, as well as internal teams, to deliver impactful results. Responsibilities include program planning and implementation, financial and operational management, staff recruitment and development, stakeholder engagement, and risk/security management.

This position is contingent upon award and funding and is subject to USDA approval as a key personnel role.

  • Master's degree in Development Studies, Agriculture, Nutrition, Public Health, or related field

  • At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in international development

  • Proven leadership in managing large-scale, multi-sectoral projects in developing contexts

  • Strong financial management, operations oversight, and staff supervision skills

  • In-depth knowledge of USDA’s Food for Progress program and regulations

  • Demonstrated success in partnerships with host governments, donors, and private sectors

  • Experience with Theory of Change in program design and implementation

  • Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written)

  • Commitment to child rights and Save the Children’s values
