About the Organisation
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (“UEGCL or the Company”) was incorporated in 2001 initially with the main objective to take over as a going concern the generation activities of the now defunct Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) together with all or any part of the property, assets and liabilities associated with it as was transferred to the Company by UEB in accordance with the Public Enterprise Reform and Divestiture Act. These assets transferred to the Company from UEB were principally the 180 MW Nalubaale and 200 MW Kira Hydro Power Stations located in Jinja.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – JOB ADVERT
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Private Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act (Cap 110) of the Laws of Uganda. Fully owned by the Government of Uganda, UEGCL is mandated to establish, acquire, maintain, and operate electricity generation facilities. The company promotes research and development in the electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principles.
UEGCL now invites competent, professional, experienced, and dynamic individuals to apply for the following vacancy:
Job Title: Chief Audit Officer (1 Position)
Nature of Contract: Full-time
Duty Station: Head Office
Job Purpose:
To oversee and manage the Internal Audit and Compliance functions within UEGCL, ensuring that the company and its employees comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, and internal control systems.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead the Internal Audit and Compliance Department.
Oversee the operations of the Internal Audit & Compliance Department.
Provide input into business strategy and ensure achievement of strategic objectives.
Coordinate development and implementation of audit and compliance policies.
Plan and coordinate audit activities and compliance programs.
Develop and implement audit plans.
Present quarterly audit reports to the Audit Committee.
Prepare and submit compliance reports.
Submit reports to senior management.
Verify existence of company assets.
Support Finance, Audit, and Compliance Committees.
Recommend improvements to systems and procedures.
Conduct investigations and provide recommendations.
Monitor departmental budgets and assess performance.
Support management with work plans and risk assessments.
Ensure audit reports are submitted to external auditors or the Auditor General.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A relevant Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in a business-related discipline from a recognized university.
A Master’s degree from a reputable institution is an added advantage.
Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or any internationally recognized equivalent.
Full membership in IIA, CPA, ACCA, or CISA.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in audit or accountancy, five (5) of which must be at a senior management level in a reputable organization.
