Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will provide strategic leadership and oversight of fundraising, donor engagement, marketing, communications, and events management. The CAO will work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership to develop and implement advancement strategies aligned with the museum’s mission and priorities.

Key responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding donor relationships, securing major gifts, developing marketing and communications strategies, managing advancement staff, and leading fundraising campaigns, including the museum’s 10-year campaign. The CAO will also design and manage high-impact events to strengthen philanthropic engagement and drive eventing revenue. The role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and a proven ability to meet ambitious fundraising goals.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

  • Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or related discipline desirable.

  • Background in art, visual culture, or related field is advantageous.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in fundraising, development, or advancement, including at least 5 years in leadership.

  • Proven track record of securing major gifts and achieving fundraising goals.

  • Strong strategic planning and implementation experience.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience leading and mentoring teams.

  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices, tools, and trends.

  • Nonprofit or mission-driven organisation experience preferred.

  • Local and international fundraising experience advantageous.
