Job Summary:
The Business Operations & Marketing Officer supports our client’s sustainability strategy by driving enterprise development, strengthening the savings and credit program, leading merchandise and sales initiatives, organizing fundraising events, and managing digital marketing. The role ensures that business ventures, market linkages, and promotional campaigns (both traditional and digital) contribute to financial growth, sponsor/donor retention, and long-term organizational impact. The Business Operations & Marketing Officer also works closely with the Head of Finance and IT to align business ventures with financial systems and reporting standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Enterprise Development & Operations. Plan, implement, and oversee enterprise activities (training hubs, guest house, farming, and other ventures).
KPIs
At least two new enterprise projects initiated annually
80% of ventures achieve financial targets
Quarterly business performance reports submitted
At least 4 major digital/marketing campaigns
Marketing, Branding & Digital Engagement. Lead marketing, branding, and digital engagement to grow visibility and attract sponsorships, donors, and partnerships. Manage social media platforms, website content, and digital campaigns in collaboration with Advocacy and Comms.
KPIs
At least 4 major digital/marketing campaigns annually
20% growth in social media engagement and followers each year
Website updated with fresh content at least quarterly
Digital campaigns directly contribute to a 10% increase in
Sponsorship/donor leads annually
Brand guidelines consistently applied across all digital platforms
Marketing and Branding. Lead marketing and branding to grow visibility and attract sponsorships, donors, and partnerships. Collaborate with Advocacy and Comms for consistent messaging.
KPIs
4 major marketing campaigns annually
20% increase in brand visibility metrics
Brand guidelines applied consistently across all outputs
Sponsorship and Donor Growth Support. Contribute to increasing child sponsorships and donor retention through marketing campaigns and targeted outreach.

15% growth in new sponsorships annually
90% sponsor/donor retention rate supported
Savings and Credit Oversight. Strengthen and monitor the performance of Household, Entrepreneurs and Financial Empowerment Partners through training, financial literacy, loan portfolio management, daily loan monitoring, and risk mitigation strategies.
KPIs
10% annual growth in savings membership
15% annual growth in credit portfolio size
Daily loan monitoring and follow-up documented for 100% of active loans
Loan recovery rate maintained at 90%
100% of loan assessments conducted before disbursement
Quarterly risk assessments and mitigation reports produced
At least 2 annual case studies demonstrating the impact of savings & credit on households
Merchandise and Sales Development. Lead the design, promotion, and sales of our client’s branded merchandise and other products to generate income and visibility.
KPIs
At least two new merchandise/product lines launched annually
Annual merchandise sales revenue meets or exceeds targets
Merchandise sales integrated into 3 fundraising/visibility events per year
Fundraising and Events Management. Organize, market, and coordinate fundraising events in collaboration with Advocacy & Comms and ED, ensuring both financial success and community engagement.
KPIs
At least 3 fundraising events successfully organized annually
90% of event targets (financial or participation) achieved
Post-event reports produced within 2 weeks of each event
Partnerships and Market Linkages. Develop partnerships with the private sector, churches, and networks for sustainability and enterprise growth.
KPIs
3 new partnerships formed annually
15% revenue increase from partnerships
Reporting and Accountability. Produce timely business and marketing performance reports for HoF & IT, ED, and the board.
KPIs
100% of reports submitted on time
90% achievement against business/marketing targets
Support to HoF and IT. Work closely with the Head of Finance & IT to align business ventures, financial tracking, and IT-based solutions for enterprise growth.
KPIs
All enterprise financial reports are aligned with Finance
95% accuracy in business related financial data
At least two process/system improvements supported annually
Support to ED and Board. Provide strategic insights on sustainability, market positioning, and donor Visibility
KPIs
2 strategic briefs submitted annually
Positive feedback from ED/board on quality of analysis
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in business operations, enterprise development, marketing, or related fields, preferably in the NGO or social enterprise sector.
Demonstrated experience in savings and credit program management, financial literacy training, or microfinance is highly desirable.
Technical Skills:
Strong proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
Practical knowledge of digital marketing, social media management, and branding strategies.
Competence in sales, fundraising event organization, and partnership development.
Familiarity with enterprise development models and community-based economic empowerment programs.
Proficiency in MS Office and basic accounting/finance systems.
