Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the strategic growth of Nexgen Fuel Works in Uganda. The primary focus is to identify new revenue streams, secure high-value contracts with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), and expand the market share for our technical products and energy efficiency solutions.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic Sales & Market Expansion

  • New Client Acquisition: Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities for dispensing pump sales, automation systems, and solar energy solutions.
  • OMC Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for OMCs and commercial industrial clients to ensure Nexgen is the preferred technical partner.
  • Product Roll-out: Lead the market entry and sales strategy for new business lines, including laundry kiosks and energy efficiency tools at petrol stations.
  • Tendering & Proposals: Lead the end-to-end process for technical and commercial bids, ensuring competitive pricing and high win rates.

Commercial Performance

  • Revenue Targets: Take ownership of the sales pipeline to ensure the company exceeds Budget 2024 (and beyond) profit targets.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activity and industry trends within the Ugandan fuel and energy sector to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Account Management: Ensure 99% customer satisfaction through regular engagement with existing clients to upsell services and renewals.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Commercial Risk: Raise timely risks and opportunities to the GM and Board regarding market shifts or client requirements.
  • Receivables Management: Work closely with the finance team to minimize accounts receivables and ensure healthy cash flow from new sales.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms with clients and vendors to maximize project margins.
