Job Description
Job Opportunity: Business Analyst

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Department: Information Technology
Reports to: Head of ICT
About the Role
SWICO is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Business Analyst to join our Information Technology team. This role is key in aligning business goals with technological solutions by analyzing business processes and ensuring IT systems support the company’s strategic objectives in a secure, scalable, and efficient manner.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Analyze and document business processes, workflows, and requirements across core insurance operations including underwriting, claims, and policy administration
Collect, validate, and manage business and functional requirements from various stakeholders
Translate business needs into clear and actionable technical specifications for development and testing teams
Collaborate with cross-functional departments including IT, finance, compliance, operations, and actuarial teams to align on project goals and implementation
Support system implementations, data migrations, integrations, and digital transformation initiatives
Develop Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, use cases, and process flow diagrams
Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training sessions, and provide post-implementation user support
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards such as IFRS 17 and insurance regulatory authority guidelines
Monitor and report on project progress, identify issues, and support resolution processes
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
3–5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role
Hands-on experience with system implementations, data integrations, and user support
Proficiency in working with databases (e.g., SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and a solid understanding of SDLC methodologies
Experience with ERP, CRM, or other enterprise business applications is an added advantage
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CBAP, ITIL, Microsoft, Oracle) are a strong asset
Preferred Skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interpret and translate business requirements into technical deliverables
Familiarity with process modelling and system design tools
High attention to detail and understanding of IT security standards
Collaborative mindset with strong organizational and time management skills
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Timely and successful delivery of IT solutions
High stakeholder and user satisfaction
Reduced system downtime and improved performance
Adherence to IT security and regulatory compliance
Quality and clarity of documentation and user training
