Job Description
The Business Analyst will support MTN South Africa’s commercial operations by identifying business requirements, analysing gaps, and recommending solutions that improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. The role includes facilitating workshops, ideation sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities to document requirements through user stories, customer journeys, and prototypes. Responsibilities extend to writing user acceptance test cases, supporting UAT, maintaining traceability matrices, and managing change requests. The analyst will also contribute to process mapping, business process optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 9001 standards. Strong facilitation, agile practices, and design thinking are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure in a highly dynamic telecommunications environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Define project requirements aligned with MTN’s customer experience strategy.
Conduct strategy analysis, define problem statements, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Facilitate stakeholder workshops, ideation sessions, and design thinking engagements.
Document requirements using user stories, customer journeys, prototypes, and narratives.
Develop traceability matrices to ensure requirements are linked to business objectives.
Support solution design, testing, and validation activities.
Manage change requests and resolve requirements conflicts.
Conduct process mapping and contribute to business process reengineering.
Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, quality standards, and agile methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and monitor performance improvements.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in a relevant discipline.
Diploma in Business Analysis (required).
Certification in Design Thinking Frameworks (required).
Agile qualification (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, etc.) required.
Facilitation certification (essential).
Six Sigma certification (advantageous).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in business analysis on solution development projects/programmes.
At least 2 years’ facilitation experience (essential).
Proven experience in Agile environments and large-scale technology projects.
Strong communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of systems engineering, business case development, and cost/benefit analysis.
Experience with modelling techniques, process frameworks (e-TOM, SCOR, TOGAF), and process repository tools (ARIS, Casewise, Visio, etc.) is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong facilitation and analytical reasoning abilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage requirements, UAT, and change requests effectively.
Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, Six Sigma, COBIT, and best practice process frameworks.
Proficiency in business analysis methodologies (BABOK).
