Location: Luzira, Kampala – Uganda
Reports to:
Primary Supervisor: Finance and Operations Director
Secondary Supervisor: Principal
To strengthen our financial operations and support our growth, we are seeking a qualified, experienced, and committed Bursar to join our team.

Position Summary
The Bursar will be responsible for overseeing all financial transactions and systems within LGIHE. The role includes accurate bookkeeping, budget forecasting, tax compliance, timely reconciliations, and upholding the highest standards in financial accountability in line with institutional policies, national regulations, and donor requirements.

How to Apply
Financial Management & Compliance
Ensure all expenditures align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), LGIHE financial policies, donor guidelines, and Ugandan regulations.
Accurately record all financial transactions into the accounting system.
Oversee timely processing of payments (bank, mobile money, petty cash).
Ensure all transactions are authorized, documented, and compliant with internal and donor protocols.
Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to the Finance and Operations Director.
Handle all aspects of tax computations and returns, including preparation of withholding tax certificates.
Budgeting & Planning
Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for institutional activities and projects.
Support forecasting processes in collaboration with other departments.
Reconciliations & Audits
Conduct monthly bank and account reconciliations.
Manage petty cash and perform weekly cash counts.
Liaise with auditors, providing necessary documentation and information for financial audits.
Staff Support & Training
Provide training and guidance to staff on financial procedures and policies.
Monitor and support compliance with LGIHE’s accounting standards across departments.
Relationship Management
Maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders, service providers, banks, and government agencies.
Other Duties
Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support institutional goals.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting) or related field.
Partly or fully qualified in ACCA or CPA is a strong advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of practical accounting experience in a reputable organization.
Experience with Manager.io or similar accounting software is a plus.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
High attention to detail and integrity in financial handling.
