The hospital is committed to delivering quality and affordable medical care to all, particularly the most vulnerable. To support its growing technical operations, the hospital is seeking a qualified and self-driven Biomedical Engineer to join its dynamic Technical Services team.
Job Purpose:
The Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Service (BEMS) unit ensures that the hospital’s clinical operations—where healthcare providers, patients, and technology interact—are consistently safe, efficient, and reliable. The Biomedical Engineer plays a key role in maintaining and optimizing medical equipment functionality.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, and test new biomedical equipment to ensure proper performance.
Supervise equipment installations carried out by external service providers.
Conduct preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and perform repairs on biomedical devices.
Provide equipment operation training and guidance to clinical staff.
Assist in evaluating proposals and specifications for new medical equipment.
Compile and analyze data for the preparation of technical reports and maintenance trends.
Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Head of BEMS.cations from all qualified individuals.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in installation, maintenance, and repair of various biomedical equipment.
Able to read and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
Skilled in using diagnostic tools and computer-based diagnostics for medical equipment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Competent in using diagnostic and calibration tools such as insulation testers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
High attention to detail and precision.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for working in multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
2–3 years of hands-on experience working in a healthcare or medical equipment environment.
Familiarity with medical equipment safety regulations and standards.
Experience in calibration and safety testing of biomedical devices is an added advantage.
