Job Description

Turaco Treetops is looking for an Assistant Operations Manager with a focus on booking and finance who can support the lodge management to deliver a high-quality experience for our guests and Tour Operators. Are you service-oriented, collaborative, self-motivated, flexible, curious, positive, hands-on, and resourceful, and would you love to live and work in nature with a team of passionate and driven colleagues? Then you might be the person we are looking for!

Duties and Responsibilities

Bookings

  • Manage and strategically plan bookings using a digital booking management

  • Maintaining contact (email/phone/WhatsApp) with Tour Operators and Direct Clients about existing bookings, making adjustments were needed.

  • Handling booking emails (incoming/outgoing).

  • Follow up on booking payments, register payments and monitor payment


Finance

  • Processing payments at the lodge, making payments to

  • Processing and entering receipts/Petty Cash Vouchers in

  • Identifying problems and reporting to Hosting and guest experience

  • Visible presence throughout the guests’ stay in the absence of the general Connect with and support guests during their stay.

  • Guest check-in and briefing in absence of the general

  • Handling questions and complaints from guests (both on-site and via email).


Management and team

  • Supervise team and take over management tasks in the absence of the general

  • Function as sparring partner of the general manager and be a linking pin between the departments (kitchen, service, maintenance, housekeeping, security) and management.

  • Motivate colleagues in a coaching manner and make adjustments when

  • Monitor days off and leave in the absence of the general

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Work experience in a comparable

  • Relevant training/education in business or operational management, financial management, hospitality, and/or tourism.

  • Effective and professional verbal and written English communication skills, able to connect to people from different (cultural) backgrounds.

  • ICT literacy and proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), business email, phone and WhatsApp communication, QuickBooks.

  • Experience with a digital booking management system is a plus.

  • Attention to detail, ability to organize and deliver work in a dynamic and at times demanding setting.

  • Flexible, curious, solution-oriented and resourceful, also in the event of unexpected

  • Cooperative attitude, willingness to support colleagues and take responsibility for joint success of the company.

  • Positive, friendly, open-minded and respectful attitude towards guests, staff and all other relations of Turaco


Other

  • The position is based at Turaco Treetops lodge, with an option to incidentally work from Kampala for short Housing and meals are provided. The ideal candidate is willing to relocate and able to live in a remote area.

  • Available in or before June

  • We are specifically looking for an East African This is not an expat position.

  • Salary indication: 1.5M UGX per month net for the starting salary, depending on experience and fit.
