Job Description
The Artisan Electrician will be responsible for minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal plant performance by performing regular maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns, and repairing electrical systems. The role requires proactive equipment inspections, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and effective sourcing of spares and parts. The incumbent will supervise assistants or contractors, provide on-the-job training, and be available for standby and rotational shifts to ensure continuous operational support. The position demands a skilled, safety-conscious, and experienced electrician with exposure to FMCG or manufacturing environments.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure all plant and equipment are fully operational from an electrical perspective.
Identify, troubleshoot, and repair breakdowns promptly and accurately.
Perform regular proactive and planned maintenance to maintain equipment reliability.
Execute maintenance schedules effectively.
Adhere to all safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) regulations.
Prepare safety documentation as required.
Source parts, spares, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities.
Collaborate with team members and provide on-the-job training when needed.
Supervise and support assistants or contractors in maintenance tasks.
Conduct lockouts of systems for safety and maintenance purposes.
Be available for standby duties and rotational shifts.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Grade 12 certificate.
N4 Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
Valid Trade Test Certificate (Electrical).
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Electrician.
Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments.
At least 5 years’ experience in HT Switching.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
Ability to work in high-pressure environments and rotational shifts.
