Position Summary:
Hima Cement Ltd is seeking a skilled and results-driven Alternative Fuels Engineer to oversee all operations related to alternative fuel platforms, including sawdust, biomass feeding, and carbon black. The role covers the management of all Alternative Fuel (AF) warehouses, offloading points, mixing stores, and coordination with plant operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and sustainable co-processing activities.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Oversight
Supervise daily operations across all AF platforms and ensure seamless integration with plant operations.
Coordinate with the operations team to align AF usage with production requirements.
Ensure proper storage, stacking, and offloading of AF materials.
Monitor AF stock levels and provide timely alerts for potential stockouts.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Enforce strict compliance with HSE standards for all contractors and employees working in AF sites.
Maintain high housekeeping standards by implementing and following scheduled plans.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all AF equipment (sawdust machines, biomass transfer systems, dryers, carbon black shop, etc.).
Monitor the condition of AF packaging and ensure damaged bags are identified for return to suppliers.
Program Development & Innovation
Participate in trial testing and protocol development for new AF streams.
Support the development of monthly and annual consumption plans with the AF sourcing team.
Innovate and develop new biomass, renewable energy, and industrial waste streams for energy recovery.
Performance & Cost Management
Work towards achieving targeted AF mix ratios to optimize energy cost savings.
Track and report on key performance indicators related to AF use and efficiency.
Prepare and manage AF-related operational budgets.
Team Development
Complete all assigned training and ensure team members meet their development goals.
Lead and support a multidisciplinary team in achieving operational excellence.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial operations supervision—preferably in the cement, process, quality, or production sectors.
Proven experience in managing plant operations, logistics, and warehouse systems.
Strong knowledge of cement production and alternative fuels usage.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
Solid understanding of occupational health and safety protocols.
Demonstrated planning, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
Additional professional certifications in renewable energy, logistics, or safety are an added advantage.
