Agriculture and Food System Intern

Position Type: Internship (Paid)
Duration: 12 months
Start Date: October 2025
Eligibility: Ugandan nationals aged 18–30
Position Overview
The Agriculture and Food System Intern will support WWF Uganda’s efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices and food system resilience. The intern will gain hands-on experience in sustainable resource management, biodiversity conservation related to agriculture, and community engagement. This role involves assisting conservation teams in planning and executing innovative outreach and environmental awareness initiatives that enhance sustainable agriculture and livelihoods.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assist agriculture and conservation teams in planning and implementing sustainable agriculture projects.
Support the management and monitoring of natural resources linked to agricultural landscapes.
Collaborate with teams to develop and implement youth engagement activities focused on sustainable food systems.
Help manage and mentor environmental and agricultural community groups.
Work alongside communications staff to engage communities and document impacts of agricultural and livelihood initiatives.
Contribute to preparation of activity reports and data for WWF technical updates.
Perform other duties related to conservation and sustainable agriculture as assigned by WWF Uganda and supervisors.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Food Systems, or related fields.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to travel frequently within project areas.
Ability to engage effectively with communities and participate in local activities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse, multicultural environment.
Good organizational and planning skills.
Fluency in Runyakitara is a plus.

Working Relationships
Collaborate closely with WWF Uganda’s operational and technical teams.
Interact with implementing partners, local communities, and government officials as directed.
