National Insurance Corporation (now NIC Holdings Limited) was established in 1964 as a wholly owned Government parastatal and the leading provider of insurance and financial services in Uganda.
In 2005, NIC was privatized with the continental insurance giant, Industrial and General Insurance Plc (IGI) acquiring majority (60%) stake through its special purpose vehicle, Corporate Holdings Limited.
On 25th March 2010, NIC was listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange becoming the first (and only) Uganda registered insurance company to be listed on the USE.
In 2014, pursuant to the Insurance (Amendment) Act, NIC was restructured and re-branded into and insurance group with a holding company and two virile wholly owned insurance subsidiaries, NIC General Insurance Company Limited and NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.

Position Overview
NIC General is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented recent graduate to join its team as an Administrative Trainee. This is a learning and development opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in administrative support, client service, and internal operations within the Marketing Department.

How to Apply
Assist the Administrative Officer in handling daily administrative duties within the Marketing Department.
Support client retention efforts by sending reminders and tracking follow-ups.
Help compile and distribute monthly marketing performance reports.
Maintain accurate records, update marketing databases, and organize filing systems.
Assist in processing agents' commissions, float requisitions, and expense accountability.
Attend marketing meetings, take minutes, and share them with relevant stakeholders.
Provide reception support in the absence of the Client Relationship Officer—welcome visitors and manage incoming calls.
Follow up on commission-related files and agent loan recoveries.
Help coordinate meetings, distribute internal memos, and manage general departmental communications.
Propose and support administrative process improvements for operational efficiency.
Assist at the customer service desk—respond to client inquiries and deliver professional support.
Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time.
Recent graduate (Class of 2023 or 2024) with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
A Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance is an added advantage.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
Customer service-oriented with a professional attitude.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
