The Accounts Assistant will support the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in financial audits. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in accounting principles, have a keen eye for detail, and possess a passion for accuracy in handling financial data.

How to Apply
Key ResponsibilitiesBookkeeping:
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
Process accounts payable and receivable.
Bank Reconciliations:
Reconcile bank statements with the companys financial records.
Monitor bank deposits and payments.
Invoicing and Payments:
Generate and issue customer invoices.
Follow up on outstanding invoices to ensure timely payments.
Process supplier invoices and manage payment schedules.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
Prepare and submit tax returns (VAT, income tax, etc.).
Assist in budget preparation and analysis.
Payroll Management:
Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll.
Ensure statutory deductions like PAYE, NSSF, and other contributions are handled correctly.
Petty Cash Management:
Maintain and manage the petty cash float.
Record petty cash transactions and reconcile balances.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain the general ledger by recording accurate financial data.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Audits:
Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and data.
Ensure compliance with all accounting and financial regulations.
Support to Other Departments:
Provide financial support and advice to the sales and procurement departments as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
A diploma or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or other accounting packages).
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of taxation and statutory compliance in Uganda is an added advantage.
