Job Description
The Accountant reports to the Senior Accountant and is responsible for computing and processing staff claims, preparing bank reconciliations, maintaining ledgers, posting data into the accounting system, managing student revenue ledgers, supporting audits, preparing budgets, and ensuring timely financial accountability. The role also includes working closely with the procurement department and ensuring reconciliations with suppliers and service providers.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Compute and process staff claims on time and at appropriate rates
Prepare bank reconciliations for assigned accounts
Provide financial data for management decision-making
Post financial data into the Information System and general ledger
Maintain student revenue ledgers
Prepare reconciled payables aging reports and reconcile balances with suppliers' claims
Liaise with the Procurement Department to maintain required credit periods
Track business advances and ensure timely accountability
Maintain and update cashbooks, ledgers, and other financial records
Support internal and external audits of MHS financial statements
Participate in budget preparation
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant or department supervisors

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance), Commerce (Accounting/Finance), or Accounting/Finance
Minimum Level 2 of a relevant professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA)
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Accountant in a busy public or reputable private organization
Competencies:
Strong interpersonal and management skills
Proficiency in computer-based accounting systems
High integrity and professionalism
Change adaptability and self-drive
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
