Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, coordinating the preparation and management of the University budget, and providing timely financial reports for decision-making. The role includes maintaining books of accounts for auditing, overseeing selected finance staff, and supporting the implementation and development of financial and operational management systems.
The Accountant will also coordinate and implement financial policies, maintain and update the University’s asset register, compute the value of physical assets, and assist in accounts payable, revenue collection, and general financial administration. The successful candidate will be expected to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, support University growth, and contribute to continuous improvement in financial management processes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Assisting the Director of Finance in coordinating the preparation and management of the University budget.
Maintaining and presenting books of accounts for auditing purposes.
Preparing and providing regular financial reports to management.
Supervising staff in the Finance Department as assigned.
Coordinating the implementation and development of financial and operational management systems.
Coordinating and implementing financial policies and procedures.
Maintaining and updating the University’s asset register.
Computing and updating the value of the University’s physical assets.
Assisting with accounts payable, revenue collection, and other financial administration functions of the department.
