Job Description
As an Account Manager – Farmer, you will maintain and grow MTN’s commercial relationships within a defined portfolio of accounts. You will contribute to the development and execution of account and promotional plans, ensure service level delivery, and provide regular reporting on account performance. The role requires resolving escalated issues, monitoring competitor activity, and identifying new opportunities for growth. Additionally, you will liaise with internal stakeholders such as supply chain, billing, and marketing teams to deliver client requirements. A key part of the role involves implementing innovative promotional activities, increasing MTN’s brand presence, and ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards. You will also play a supervisory role, fostering collaboration, professionalism, and customer-centric culture within the team.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Provide input into operational and promotional planning to drive revenue growth.
Maintain knowledge of commercial agreements and manage relationships within assigned accounts.
Assist with the end-to-end management of accounts under the supervision of the Regional Sales Manager.
Monitor growth opportunities through competitor activity and recommend new strategies.
Implement innovative promotional activities in line with marketing and channel objectives.
Ensure SLA delivery by coordinating with relevant internal functions.
Prepare account performance reports and provide feedback on risks and competitive threats.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
Resolve customer queries promptly and ensure customer satisfaction.
Ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards.
Adopt a customer-centric approach and live the MTN brand values.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Minimum 3-year Degree/Diploma in Commerce (Sales, Financial, Marketing, Communication, or related).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in account management, preferably in a fast-moving telecoms or ICT industry.
ICT/GSM experience is advantageous.
Experience supervising others within a medium-sized organization.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong planning, analytical, and project management skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
Customer-centric mindset with strong relationship-building skills.
Ability to adapt to change, handle pressure, and work in a fast-paced environment.
