Job Description
As an Account Manager – Commercial Operations, you will actively target and acquire new business opportunities through lead generation, cold calling, trade shows, and structured acquisition planning. You will be accountable for meeting weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets and incentivised for driving incremental recurring revenues. The role also involves managing existing accounts, resolving escalated issues, increasing MTN’s brand presence, and providing insights into competitive activity. You will focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences by ensuring queries are resolved within SLA, projects are effectively managed, and quality control measures are upheld. Additionally, the role requires conducting business analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement, optimization, and business growth while ensuring compliance with procurement and governance policies.

Drive new business acquisition through cold calling, lead generation, trade shows, and account planning.
Achieve sales targets (weekly, monthly, annual) for new customer acquisitions.
Hand over closed deals to revenue quota-bearing sales teams.
Manage and resolve escalated customer issues or escalate appropriately.
Increase MTN’s brand presence and influence within allocated accounts.
Provide feedback on competitive threats and recommend product/service enhancements.
Monitor competitor activity and report growth opportunities.
Ensure customer queries are resolved within SLA and deliver exceptional service.
Maintain compliance with quality, governance, and procurement policies.
Prepare reports on account performance and project progress.
Manage contracts and coordinate project implementation and monitoring.
Conduct business analysis, document requirements, and design workflows.
Identify and implement business improvement and optimization initiatives.
Benchmark processes with industry best practices and propose business cases.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Minimum of a 3-year degree/diploma in Commerce (Financial, Marketing, or Communication) or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in account management with a strong focus on hunting/new business acquisition.
Experience in a medium-sized organization, preferably in a fast-moving industry.
ICT industry experience (preferred).
Experience working with large enterprises (advantageous).
Skills and Competencies:
Strong business development and account management skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer engagement abilities.
Knowledge of ICT solutions and commercial operations.
Analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a competitive environment.
Results-driven with strong organizational and planning skills.
