About the Role
Microhaem Scientifics and Medical Supplies Ltd. is seeking five (5) experienced Machine Operators/Technicians to join our production team in Kampala. The successful candidates will be responsible for the efficient, safe operation and maintenance of production machinery, ensuring high-quality outputs and strict adherence to production schedules and safety standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
Prepare and configure machines for production runs as per SOPs.
Adjust machine settings (speed, temperature, feed) to optimize performance.
Perform pre-operation checks to ensure machine readiness.
Production Monitoring
Monitor ongoing machine operations to ensure smooth production.
Inspect products regularly to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Track key indicators such as pressure, speed, and temperature.
Quality Assurance
Perform in-process quality checks and record production data.
Report any defects or deviations to supervisors or QA teams.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
Identify and resolve minor machine issues promptly.
Conduct routine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, part replacement).
Work with the maintenance team on major repairs.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines.
Ensure machines operate safely, with all protective devices in place.
Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
Documentation & Reporting
Accurately complete shift logs and production reports.
Record machine downtimes and report technical issues.
Report material shortages or inventory discrepancies.
Coordination & Communication
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Participate in shift handovers and brief incoming operators.
Share feedback on machine performance and process improvements.
Continuous Improvement
Support initiatives to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
Recommend process adjustments to enhance productivity.
Stay updated with training on new equipment and protocols.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields:
Industrial Engineering & Management
Mechanical Engineering
Chemical & Process Engineering
Biomedical Engineering
Or other relevant engineering disciplines
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
