Job Summary

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is seeking to recruit four (4) experienced Project Drivers to support transportation needs in the project operation areas of Gulu, Arua, Lira, and Mbale.

How to Apply

  • Operate project vehicles safely and in compliance with local traffic regulations and project policies.

  • Transport staff and project materials within assigned regions.

  • Maintain the vehicle in clean and roadworthy condition, including regular interior and exterior cleaning.

  • Monitor tire condition regularly, including maintaining a functional spare tire.

  • Maintain daily vehicle usage logs and submit monthly reports.

  • Submit fuel consumption reports as required.

  • Perform routine checks on vehicle fluids (water, oil, fuel, washer fluid) and ensure timely maintenance.

  • Immediately report any mechanical issues, accidents, or damage to the supervisor.

  • Ensure vehicle is securely parked and locked when not in use.

  • Carry out project-related errands as assigned.

  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with a pass in English.

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience driving for development or donor-funded projects.

  • Valid Driver’s License in good standing.

  • Certificate of Competence from the Chief Mechanical Engineer.

  • Defensive Driving Certification is an added advantage.


Core Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of traffic regulations and minor vehicle repair.

  • Familiarity with communication tools (radio, phone, email, etc.).

  • High level of integrity, reliability, and physical and emotional fitness.

  • Polite, professional demeanor with cultural sensitivity.

  • Good knowledge of the regional road networks and conditions.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under minimal supervision.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
