Job Opportunity: Post Bus Conductor (4 Positions)

Reports To: Post Bus Supervisor

Purpose of the Role
The Post Bus Conductor works closely with the bus driver to ensure the smooth and secure transportation of passengers, mail, and parcels, while maintaining accountability for revenue, customer service, and operational safety.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Load and unload mailbags, parcels, and other postal items onto/off the bus.
Collect passenger fares, issue tickets, handle cash transactions, and provide accurate change.
Maintain detailed records of fares collected and tickets issued.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of mail at designated stops.
Securely position items on the bus to prevent damage or tampering during transit.
Sort mail based on delivery routes or destinations to facilitate efficient distribution.
Respond to customer inquiries and provide information on postal services when needed.
Assist passengers in boarding, seating, and ensure their safety and comfort.
Prepare and maintain reports related to mail and transport activities.
Keep the interior of the bus clean and orderly throughout the journey.
Assist the driver in route planning, traffic updates, and navigation.
Record all mail loaded and offloaded, and promptly report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
Provide support to passengers with special needs, including the elderly or disabled.
Comply with all postal service regulations and road safety protocols.
Deliver professional, courteous, and secure service to all customers and passengers along the route.
Key Performance Indicators
Timely bus departures and arrivals
Passenger satisfaction and service ratings
Accuracy of mail and parcel deliveries
Efficiency in fare collection and record-keeping
Route completion rate
Compliance with safety and security regulations
Cleanliness and orderliness of the vehicle
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Certificate in Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage.
A valid driving permit (Class B) is an asset.
Experience
At least two (2) years of experience in a passenger bus company or a similar role.
Proven ability to handle cash transactions, ticketing, and customer interactions.
Key Competencies
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills
Strong numeracy skills for fare and cash handling
Accuracy in maintaining records for finances and mail tracking
Physical ability to load and unload parcels
Good time management and punctuality
Ability to speak and write fluent English
Basic knowledge of vehicle defect detection and reporting
