Job Description
We are currently seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to fill vacant positions within the NMS structure. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans for the following vacant position at the NMS Head Office:

Job Title: Driver
Job Grade: Grade 11
Number of Positions: 03
The Driver will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient transportation of NMS staff and goods as required. The position involves adhering to traffic laws, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and readiness, and ensuring timely servicing of vehicles. The Driver will also perform some office errands and support in basic vehicle maintenance.

How to Apply
Transportation:
Safely drive NMS staff and goods to required destinations within Uganda, ensuring the comfort and safety of passengers.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and conduct while transporting staff, clients, and goods.
Vehicle Maintenance & Readiness:
Ensure the vehicle is in good working condition, including regular checks for mechanical issues and ensuring timely servicing.
Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, both inside and out.
Keep accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
Ensure that the vehicle is prepared for long-distance travel or trips on rough terrain, especially for field visits.
Compliance with Traffic Laws:
Strictly observe traffic laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with speed limits and road safety guidelines.
Perform routine checks to ensure that the vehicle meets legal and safety requirements, including valid insurance and registration.
Office Support & Errands:
Perform office errands, including the collection and delivery of documents, purchasing office supplies, and other duties as required.
Assist in routine office tasks, such as photocopying, filing, and moving furniture, when necessary.
Logbook Maintenance:
Maintain a daily vehicle logbook, recording all travels and ensuring staff signatures for transported personnel.
Generator Management:
Responsible for the office generator by powering it on/off, fueling it, and ensuring it is well-serviced.
Communication & Coordination:
Ensure effective communication with supervisors and team members for transportation schedules and urgent requirements.
Assist with coordinating travel arrangements and any logistical needs.
Other Duties:
Perform any other tasks as assigned by supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of NMS activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) qualification.
Certificate in motor vehicle mechanics or defensive driving is an added advantage.
At least 8 years of driving experience, with 5 years of experience within the NGO or international sector preferred.
Experience driving in Kampala and other regions of Uganda.
Knowledge of local traffic laws and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
Good working knowledge of the English language; French is an added advantage.
Valid driving license issued by the relevant Ugandan authority.
Skills and Competencies:
Ability to drive safely and courteously, with a strong sense of responsibility.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to handle routine office duties when required.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
