About the Organisation
The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) is the supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Uganda mandated under Article 163 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda to audit and report on the Public Accounts of Uganda and of all public offices, including the Courts, the Central and Local Government Administrations, Universities and Public Institutions of like nature and any Public Corporations or other bodies or organizations established by an Act of Parliament. The Constitutional mandate of the OAG is amplified by the National Audit Act, 2008 which has among other things enhanced the financial and operational independence of the Auditor General.

Job Opportunity: Audit Trainees (28 Positions)
Position Type: Full-Time
Organization: Office of the Auditor General (OAG)
Location: Countrywide (Applicants must be willing to work at upcountry regional offices)

Position Summary:
The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) is recruiting 28 Audit Trainees to support audit planning, execution, reporting, and general audit-related administrative tasks. The successful candidates will participate in fieldwork and audits under the guidance of a designated supervisor.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Audit Planning:
Participate in identifying, assessing, and profiling audit risks of entities.
Attend audit engagement and planning meetings.
Assist in the development of audit programs and plans.
Prepare audit working paper files, lead schedules, and compute materiality levels.
Audit Execution:
Collect and review audit evidence through document analysis, inspections, observations, and interviews.
Perform audit tests and execute assigned audit procedures.
Analyze data for audit conclusions and reporting.
Attend and contribute to Directorate peer review sessions.
Audit Reporting:
Draft audit observations and findings.
Support in verifying audit responses as instructed.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist in administrative or technical tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Audit quality score based on assigned tasks
Percentage of audit observations included in the draft management letter
Timeliness of audit task completion
Audit task cost-efficiency
Effective use of technology
Staff competence rating
Compliance with service level agreements
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Ugandan citizens aged 30 years or below
Holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in:
Commerce
Business Administration
Business Studies
Any related degree with a major in Accounting OR
Holds a full professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA or CPA) from a recognized institution
Note: Prior work experience is not required.
