The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company fully owned by the Government of Uganda. It was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both enacted in 2013, and incorporated under the Companies Act, 2012.

Job Title: Products Trading Operations Officer (2 Vacancies)

Job Purpose

The Products Trading Operations Officer is responsible for executing daily petroleum products trading operations. Acting as the primary account manager for assigned Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the role ensures effective customer relationship management, demand tracking, payment reconciliation, and stock coordination in line with established agreements, operational procedures, and regulatory standards.

How to Apply

  • Conduct Know Your Customer (KYC) checks for new OMCs and onboard qualifying companies under the Sales and Purchase Agreement framework.

  • Monitor and manage monthly demand confirmations; resolve related customer issues, including stock adjustment requests.

  • Share timely account statements, reconcile outstanding balances, and follow up on payments to ensure financial compliance.

  • Receive, verify, and process customer loading requests; coordinate with terminal teams and stakeholders to facilitate timely deliveries.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of approved trading operations processes, aligned with business volumes and regulatory requirements.

  • Initiate and track internal approvals for Product Orders via both KPC and UNOC ERP systems to support timely and efficient service delivery.

  • Supervise Dispatch Assistants and Terminal Operatives to ensure accurate fulfillment of Loading Orders, within agreed timelines and operational guidelines.

  • Support and enforce safety protocols, quality assurance procedures, and regulatory standards in the handling and dispatch of petroleum products.

  • Analyze demand forecasts against actual product evacuations and contribute to key performance indicator (KPI) reviews.

  • Assist in the implementation of annual stakeholder engagement plans and contribute to building strong, cooperative relationships.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, Commerce, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Specialized training in Petroleum Products Trading is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) principles is desirable.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the downstream petroleum products sector.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong skills in Operations and Logistics Management

  • Effective Stakeholder Management capabilities

  • In-depth knowledge of the Petroleum Products Industry

  • Familiarity with Customs Clearance Processes and supply chain documentation

  • Awareness and adherence to QHSSE standards and best practices

  • Excellent communication and personnel supervision skills

  • High level of integrity and professionalism
