Job Opportunity: Assistant Post Officer (11 Positions)
Organization: Posta Uganda
Location: GPO Kampala (03 at GPO, 06 at Customer Service Centres [CSC], 02 at EMS)
Job Level: Six (06)
Reports To: Respective Unit Managers

Job Purpose
The Assistant Post Officer will support efficient mail and parcel operations by ensuring timely processing, delivery, and customer service at designated units. The role also involves handling counter sales, record keeping, and basic support services for clients, particularly those with private post office boxes.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Receive and dispatch mailbags to and from buses.
Open, sort, and dispatch mail to the correct addresses.
Respond to client complaints concerning mail loss, theft, delivery delays, or damage; and issue notifications for undelivered parcels.
Sell company products and services, issue receipts, maintain Daily Revenue Returns (DRR), and ensure proper banking of revenue.
Arrange and prepare parcels for Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) assessment, sort them by destination, and place them for dispatch.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, or Information Technology from a recognized institution.
At least two (2) years of relevant work experience in a reputable organization.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work long and flexible hours
Computer literacy and proficiency in basic office software
