The UNOC 6G coded welding scholarships offer a unique opportunity for Ugandans to advance their careers in the oil and gas sector with fully funded, intensive welding training. The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), in partnership with Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), is inviting applications for 20 scholarships to undertake 6G coded welding training and certification under the internationally recognized ASME IX standard.

The UNOC 6G coded welding scholarships are designed to build nationwide expertise in welding, a critical skill for Uganda’s growing oil and gas industry. This fully funded, full-time program lasts for eight weeks and will be held at UPIK. The scholarships cover comprehensive training in 6G coded welding, which is a highly sought-after qualification in welding fabrication and pipework.

Training Location: Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK)
Certification: ASME IX standard 6G welding certification
Eligibility: Ugandan nationals aged 18+, holders of NVQ certificates in Welding and Metal Fabrication, with 3G coded welding certification
To qualify for the UNOC 6G coded welding scholarships, applicants must:
Be Ugandan citizens aged 18 years and above from any district.
Hold a National Vocational and Technical Crafts certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication.
Possess a valid 3G coded welding certificate from a recognized institution.
Have basic skills in English reading and writing, good knowledge of mathematics, physics, and basic electricity.
Be physically and medically fit with good eyesight.
Commit to staying at the training center for the full duration of the course.
Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply to promote gender inclusion.
Provide evidence of Ugandan citizenship.
