The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has officially launched a self-service online pre-registration portal on its website, allowing Ugandans to initiate the National ID registration or renewal process remotely—anywhere with internet access.
This online service is a major step forward in streamlining the national identification process for both first-time applicants and those needing to renew expired ID cards.
How the NIRA Online Pre-Registration System Works
With this new system in place, users can fill in their application details online through the NIRA portal. Upon successful submission, applicants receive a Unique Identification Number (UIN), which they must present at the nearest NIRA center for final processing.
