EACOP Engineering Scholarships 2025 | Makerere & Kyambogo Students Eligible

Updated: Sep 8

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has rolled out a transformative scholarship program targeting bright but financially constrained engineering students from Makerere and Kyambogo universities. This initiative is part of EACOP’s broader commitment to developing local talent for Uganda’s growing oil and gas sector.

Launched in partnership with Tier One contractor China Petroleum Pipeline (CPP), the scholarship program will support 28 students. Of these, 18 beneficiaries are from Kyambogo University and 10 from Makerere University.

Preference was given to applicants from the 10 districts along the pipeline route, with seven students selected directly from these areas. The rigorous selection process considered academic performance, financial need, and community service engagement.

EACOP noted:

“This initiative is part of our national content strategy, ensuring Ugandan talent is prepared to take up opportunities in the oil and gas sector.”

The scholarships will run for three years, covering tuition and related academic expenses, ensuring students can focus on excelling in their studies.

EACOP’s investment in education and training goes far beyond scholarships. The company has already:

  • Trained 82 graduate trainees under its structured skills development program.

  • Delivered 532 hours of technical training for lecturers, professors, and technicians through a “Train the Trainer” initiative.

  • Partnered with Makerere University, Kyambogo University, Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), and the Institute of Surveyors of Uganda to strengthen knowledge transfer and technical expertise.

Currently constructing the world’s longest heated crude oil pipeline from Hoima (Uganda) to Tanga (Tanzania), EACOP emphasizes that investing in local skills is central to ensuring Ugandans benefit from the multibillion-dollar oil and gas project.

This scholarship program is not only shaping the future of engineering students but also building a skilled workforce capable of driving Uganda’s participation in the global energy sector.
