Traffic investigators are now working to determine the exact cause of the crash, and whether mechanical failure, driver error, or road conditions played a role.

The incident has reignited public concern over road safety, particularly at busy junctions where trucks, taxis, motorcycles, and pedestrians frequently intersect. Community members and local leaders are demanding:

  • Stricter traffic enforcement

  • Designated truck lanes

  • Better urban planning

  • Protective barriers around roadside businesses

Authorities are urging all drivers to remain vigilant, especially in congested zones like Wantoni Junction, and have assured the public of a thorough investigation.

As Mukono comes to terms with this devastating loss, families of the victims and the broader community are calling for urgent action to prevent future tragedies. The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has promised regular updates as investigations unfold and encourages public cooperation during this difficult time.
