Job Description
The Warehouse Supervisor (Dispatch) will report to the Operations Manager and oversee all despatch activities, including scanning, invoicing, and timely dispatch of orders. The role is accountable for managing dispatch staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance with operational standards.
Responsibilities include monitoring order processing cycle times, route mapping, fleet servicing, and equipment maintenance. The position requires effective reverse logistics management, performance evaluation, and reporting on daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs. The supervisor will also play a key role in staff training, setting targets, and maintaining a clean and compliant working environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Supervise picking, checking, packing, and dispatch functions
Ensure SOPs and company policies (SHEQ, QA) are adhered to
Manage dispatch capacity, SLA compliance, and order processing cycle times
Oversee fleet usage, vehicle servicing, and fuel efficiency
Monitor asset inspections and maintain equipment uptime
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of order statuses and daily performance
Manage proof of delivery (POD) and reverse logistics
Oversee warehouse housekeeping and quality control
Handle staff performance management, training, and disciplinary action
Conduct and support stock counts and inventory accuracy
Resolve internal and external order disputes/claims
Schedule and manage overtime staff requirements
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Matric/NQF Level 4 (Essential)
Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics/supply chain (Advantageous)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in a warehouse/fleet supervisory role
Operational/logistical experience
Fleet management experience
Skills and Knowledge:
Computer literacy (MS Office, especially Excel and Word)
ERP/WMS systems understanding
Budget and financial management background
Core Competencies:
Effective communication at all levels
Strong negotiation and planning skills
Team leadership and independent decision-making
Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure
High integrity, attention to detail, and excellent time management
