Job Description

The Universal Banker (Level 1) will be responsible for attending to the financial needs of clients across Personal, Prestige, and Private Banking segments. Key tasks include managing client account activities, responding to product inquiries, and delivering on a "one-and-done" service approach. The role demands a deep understanding of customer needs, regulatory compliance (including FAIS), and a consistent focus on driving revenue growth through cross-selling and upselling banking products.

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Attend to banking needs of clients by offering tailored services and solutions

  • Open accounts, issue statements, process debit order information, and manage client requests

  • Deliver outstanding service by identifying and resolving client needs effectively

  • Drive sales performance by cross-selling banking products (loans, cards, savings, investments)

  • Maintain a deep understanding of product knowledge and industry regulations

  • Build and grow a pipeline of new clients while ensuring retention of existing clients

  • Ensure compliance with FAIS and all other regulatory standards

Qualifications, Education and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications:

  • National Certificate in Banking (NQF Level 5 FAIS-recognized qualification or higher)

Experience Required:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in banking or financial services

  • Strong sales background with a proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets

  • Experience in client relationship management, account services, and advisory roles

  • Knowledge of banking products, operations, and compliance regulations

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and customer service focus
