Job Description
The Treasury Manager will oversee cash management, asset and liability coordination, exchange rate risk mitigation, and funding activities. They will maintain relationships with financial partners, ensure compliance with internal and external policies, and support financial sustainability by optimizing resource allocation and financial transactions. The role includes monitoring and reporting key performance indicators, overseeing credit management, and recommending provisions and recoveries in line with Group policies.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Treasury Management:
Source and manage funding, credit lines, and operational finances
Develop and update funding plans
Monitor and analyze funding costs for optimal pricing
Invest idle cash while maintaining sufficient liquidity
Ensure full compliance with financial laws and audit requirements
Banking and Partner Management:
Act as the primary liaison with banks and partners
Negotiate terms, maintain facilities, and document transactions
Safeguard company interests against fraud and misappropriation
Maintain updated signatory lists and monitor interest rate movements
Cash Flow and Banking Transactions:
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all bank transactions
Record banking operations in the accounting system
Monitor balances to meet operational needs and optimize interest
Exchange Rate Management:
Track exchange rates and advise on hedging strategies
Execute spot and forward forex transactions at favorable rates
Mobile Financial Services:
Reconcile mobile transactions and ensure correct revenue allocation
Treasury Reporting:
Prepare internal and external reports, including cash flow forecasts
Share key financial data with Group Treasury and debt partners
Attend monthly Treasury calls and maintain KPI standards
Credit and Risk Management:
Manage third-party collection agencies for debts over 90 days
Recommend provisions, write-offs, and recovery adjustments
Prepare risk reports and recommend strategies for identified gaps
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, or Banking
ACCA/CPA or MBA and CFA (Stage 1 or 2) are an added advantage
At least 5 years of experience in treasury, finance, or accounting
In-depth knowledge of treasury policies, cash flow planning, and forex exposure
Experience with deposit mobilization and liquidity management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Familiarity with Uganda’s economic and financial environment
