Job Description
The Technical Tester will be responsible for scripting and executing automated and manual tests to validate system functionality and performance. The successful candidate will work with project managers, developers, and business analysts to analyze requirements, identify defects, and ensure quality assurance standards are met. This includes developing and enhancing automation frameworks, performing regression and system testing, and ensuring test environments align with production. The position requires a strong technical background, experience in automation testing, and proficiency in tools like Java, Git, API testing, and CI/CD platforms.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using internal Java frameworks
Conduct regression, system, and performance testing
Review requirements and design test cases and validation steps
Maintain and enhance existing front-end and back-end test automation frameworks
Work with web services or API technologies (SOAP, REST, XML, JSON)
Use Git for version control and ensure adherence to coding standards
Generate test reports using tools like Serenity, TestNG, or Extent Reports
Collaborate with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure quality
Perform defect tracking and communicate findings with development teams
Support continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) processes
Utilize tools such as HP ALM and JIRA for test management
Create user procedure guides and manuals
Continuously evaluate performance and seek development opportunities
Ensure compliance with governance, legislative, and audit standards
Contribute to innovation and suggest solutions for operational efficiency
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum: Diploma or certification in software testing or programming
Preferred: Degree in IT or Computer Science and certifications such as ISEB/ISTQB, TMap Next Engineer, or ISTQB Advanced Analyst
At least 3 years of experience in automation testing (required)
Strong scripting/coding abilities in Java
Familiarity with API technologies, CI/CD platforms, and open-source tools
Experience with test management and reporting tools
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Self-motivated, accountable, and a team player
Experience in the banking industry is an advantage
