Job Description
As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the performance of the Veterans Affairs IT infrastructure. This is a night shift role, where you will manage hardware, software, and network issues while ensuring systems meet security compliance standards. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, enhancing system reliability, managing backups and firewalls, executing upgrades, and ensuring that user accounts and workstations are set up for seamless productivity. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, government leadership, and engineering teams to optimize and maintain server environments in alignment with customer requirements.
This is a remote position, but the role is contingent upon funding release. The candidate will also be expected to stay up to date on system performance and implement improvements to support the infrastructure’s continuous growth.

How to Apply
Proactively monitor system performance and resolve issues to ensure optimal reliability and security
Ensure strict security compliance, including managing access controls, backups, and firewalls
Administer network servers and technology tools, driving improvements and scalability
Set up user accounts and workstations to support productivity
Execute system upgrades and deploy new tools to keep systems up to date
Maintain internal documentation of system configurations and policies
Collaborate with government leadership and engineering teams to optimize infrastructure design
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field
12 years of relevant experience, preferably in application support or development
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with customers and internal teams
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools
Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewall configurations
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
Effective written and oral communication skills
Clearance Required:
Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance
