Job Description
The Metallurgy Superintendent is responsible for leading the metallurgy team, promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring operational compliance with Ghanaian Mine Safety Regulations, developing competency training plans, standardizing metallurgical test programs, enhancing collaboration between operational units, and contributing to budget development and execution. The role requires in-depth technical expertise in mineral processing and strong leadership to drive operational improvements.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead safety initiatives within the processing group.
Ensure compliance with Ghanaian Mine Safety Regulations.
Develop and implement technical training programs for staff.
Create and execute metallurgical test work programs.
Strengthen collaboration across Metallurgy, Operations, Maintenance, Mining, and Procurement teams.
Deliver technical insights to relevant stakeholders on plant performance.
Assist in operating and capital expenditure budgeting.
Develop systems for continuous improvement measurement.
Manage small to medium processing plant capital projects.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Ore Processing.
Senior Mine Officials Certificates of Competency (Processing Superintendent or Manager level).
Master’s degree in Management (highly desirable).
Valid Ghanaian driver’s license.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of operational metallurgical experience.
At least 3 years in a senior metallurgical leadership role.
Knowledge:
Expertise in comminution processes (especially SABC).
Flotation processes for gold-containing sulfides.
Cyanide leaching and detoxification processes.
Metal, water, and cyanide balancing in mineral processing.
Metallurgical improvement programs.
Skills:
Excellent English communication skills (Chinese is an advantage).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
Strong planning, organizational, and prioritization abilities.
Good time management skills.
Leadership and Behavioral Attributes:
Ethical behavior, integrity, and honesty.
Strong supervisory and conflict management skills.
Ability to manage stress, achieve results, and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
Ability to work under extreme pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
