Pri Consultants
Our client is looking for a Sourcing GM for a full-time in-country position in Western Uganda, responsible for leading sourcing, production, and export operations. The core responsibilities include managing all sourcing staff, overseeing procurement, production, and stock accuracy, implementing company policies, supporting cocoa procurement and certification, supervising production processes, managing logistics for cocoa export, overseeing cash management in Kasese and Bundibugyo, ensuring accountability and no mismanagement of funds or procurement, hosting and coordinating visitor activities, and annual planning for volumes and capacity.
Developing Sourcing Strategies:
Formulate and implement sourcing strategies aligned with the organization's overall objectives and goals.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, assess market trends, and benchmark pricing and quality.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance.
Collaborate with suppliers to improve product quality, reduce costs, and optimize delivery schedules.
Sourcing Process Management:
Lead the sourcing process, including supplier selection, qualification, and evaluation.
Develop and implement sourcing policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
Oversee the request for proposal (RFP) process, evaluate proposals, and make recommendations for supplier selection.
Cost Management:
Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier consolidation, and negotiation of favorable terms and pricing.
Monitor and analyze spending patterns, budgets, and cost trends to identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Risk Management:
Assess and mitigate risks associated with sourcing activities, including supply chain disruptions, supplier financial stability, and geopolitical factors.
Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to minimize risk and ensure business continuity.
Establish quality standards and specifications for purchased goods and services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
Implement quality control measures, supplier audits, and performance metrics to monitor and evaluate supplier performance.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, and logistics, to align sourcing activities with business objectives and operational requirements.
Participate in cross-functional teams and projects to support new product development, cost reduction initiatives, and process improvements.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, systems, and practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and value creation.
Implement best practices, tools, and technologies to streamline sourcing operations and optimize supply chain performance.
Leadership and Team Management:
Provide leadership and direction to the sourcing team, including setting goals, managing performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance, training, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from reputable university in related field
3+ years' experience working and living in Africa or similar context Knowledge of or previous experience in agriculture, agronomy, or agro- processing
Experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping
High level of organizational skills
Ability and willingness to learn and problem-solve independently (required) Willingness to live and work in rural areas
Patience & sense of humor
