Job Description
The Site Operations Manager will be responsible for the effective and compliant execution of all operational activities on site. This includes leading the site team, overseeing logistics and product distribution, managing the site fleet, and ensuring that all operations comply with legal, safety, and corporate governance requirements such as SOX standards. The incumbent must understand explosives logistics, magazine management, and outbound supply chain strategies. Responsibilities also include regulatory compliance with the Explosives Act (Chapters 6 & 8), securing necessary transportation permits and licenses, maintaining relationships with the Chief Inspector of Explosives (CIE), and ensuring adherence to SQAS standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of site operations
Oversee distribution of products to ensure high customer service levels
Lead and manage the site staff establishment
Supervise fleet management activities
Enforce compliance with SOX and other governance standards
Oversee warehouse and store operations within the site
Ensure compliance with Chapter 6 & 8 of the Explosives Act
Maintain internal and external supply and demand logistics
Arrange compliance inspections in line with outbound value chain strategy
Manage magazine licenses and transportation permits
Build and maintain effective relationships with regulatory bodies, including CIE
Ensure SQAS requirements are understood and met
Align operations with business demand and regulatory compliance
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 (Matric)
National Diploma in Logistics Management (Required)
Certification with the Chief Inspector of Explosives (CIE) (Required)
At least 5 years’ experience in the explosives supply chain environment
Proven experience in outbound supply chain and explosives value chain
Preferred:
B-Tech / BCom in Logistics will be an advantage
Competencies:
Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain, and compliance standards
Leadership and people management skills
Excellent organizational and planning ability
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Proficient in navigating legal and compliance frameworks
