Job Description
The Shop Attendant will serve as the first point of contact for customers, providing personalized assistance, recommending products, and ensuring each visitor has a pleasant shopping experience. The position also involves inventory monitoring, product restocking, and participation in periodic stock-taking exercises. The successful candidate will operate the till, process various forms of payments, and maintain accurate cash handling records. Maintaining visual merchandising standards, store cleanliness, and adherence to company procedures and safety guidelines is essential. The role is suitable for individuals with a friendly attitude, strong attention to detail, and a passion for retail.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers with product selection.
Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
Upsell and recommend complementary products.
Restock shelves and maintain attractive product displays.
Monitor inventory and report low-stock items to the Store Manager.
Operate the cash register and handle transactions accurately.
Process payments via cash, cards, or mobile money.
Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing.
Dispose of expired or damaged products responsibly.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic Qualifications:
Minimum of a Senior High School Certificate (SHS) or equivalent.
Experience and Competencies:
Previous retail or customer service experience is an advantage.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic numeracy and ability to operate a cash register.
Attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
Positive attitude and team spirit.
Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
