Research Planning: Develop research plans and strategies focused on soil science, considering factors such as soil composition, structure, fertility, and management practices.
Fieldwork: Conduct fieldwork to collect soil samples, assess soil properties, and analyze soil profiles. This may involve soil sampling, soil texture analysis, soil moisture measurement, and soil fertility testing.
Laboratory Analysis: Perform laboratory analysis on soil samples, including tests for pH levels, nutrient content, organic matter content, and soil texture. Use specialized equipment and techniques to analyze soil properties accurately.
Data Analysis: Analyze data obtained from fieldwork and laboratory experiments, using statistical methods and software to interpret results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
Soil Conservation: Provide expertise in soil conservation and management practices, including erosion control, soil fertility enhancement, and sustainable land use planning. Develop strategies to improve soil health and productivity while minimizing environmental degradation.
Research Collaboration: Collaborate with other researchers, scientists, and stakeholders on interdisciplinary research projects related to soil science, agriculture, environmental science, and land management.
Publication and Presentation: Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals, technical reports, or presentations at conferences and workshops. Disseminate research findings to the scientific community, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders.
Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance and advisory support to farmers, landowners, government agencies, and NGOs on soil management practices, crop selection, and land use planning to improve agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Project Management: Manage research projects related to soil science, including project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and monitoring progress to ensure project objectives are met within established timelines and budgets.
Training and Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and educational materials on soil science topics for farmers, extension agents, students, and other stakeholders to build capacity and promote best practices in soil management.

Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture or Natural Resources
PhD in soil science.
The applicant should have conducted research and published as the first author and/or co-author of at least four articles in peer-reviewed journals.
At least eight years' experience in conducting agricultural research in soil science fields as evidenced by reports and publication records from a reputable Organisation.
