Job Description
The Senior People Partner will define and own the People strategy for Glovo in Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, and Ivory Coast. Reporting to the Head of People, the role serves as a key partner to senior leadership, aligning HR initiatives with business strategy. The ideal candidate will guide teams through workforce planning, talent development, performance management, and leadership coaching.
This is a strategic role focused on high-impact initiatives, talent acquisition planning, employee engagement, and long-term capability building. Cross-functional collaboration with global HR teams, centers of excellence, and local operations is critical. The role requires regular travel and a deep understanding of HR practices across multiple countries in the region.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Define and execute the People strategic agenda in Sub-Saharan Africa
Serve as a strategic partner to General Managers and senior leaders
Lead strategic workforce planning and growth initiatives
Oversee performance management and career path development
Implement talent development and succession planning programs
Monitor employee engagement and drive retention strategies
Collaborate with People Acquisition team on recruitment processes
Provide coaching and guidance on HR policies and organizational development
Partner with global People teams to localize strategies and HR projects
Ensure high-quality leadership development across regional teams
Support organizational restructures and change management efforts
Travel quarterly across supported countries for strategic alignment.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior HR role in demanding environments
Proven leadership experience managing HR teams
Regional HR expertise across Sub-Saharan Africa (especially Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, and Ivory Coast)
Track record in leadership development and succession planning
Strong experience with global HR teams and translating strategy into regional execution
Excellent English communication skills; French is a strong advantage
High ethical standards, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills
Experience working in startups or fast-paced tech environments is highly valued
Familiarity with HR technologies including HRIS, ATS, and HR analytics
Willingness to travel across the region once per quarter
